Hello Drivers I logged over 3 million miles as a otr truck driver from 1972 - 2007 and I have written a lot of it in my songs. God has taken me off the road and put me into full time ministry, but I still have a heart for all you drivers out there on that Ole Lonesome Road.. Christian Truckers let's change the image of the American Trucker back to the way it was years ago.
This page is dedicated to the over the road truckdriver. They are the life line of this great nation we call America! " If you have it, "a trucker brought it" so we salute the American Trucker. These same truckers are a big part of this ministry. There are so many of those truckers who carry our cd's across this country passing them out all across America. This ministry went from giving out 1000 free cd's the first month, Feb 2007 to the current time we are giving away over 15,000 free cd's every month. By the end of 2009 we produced over 400,000 cd's and gave them away free of charge. Without the truckers this would not be possible. So we salute the American Truckers with this page by sharing with you a few songs written by Tom Caldwell & Gary Rayburn. Tom is a disciple of Jesus Christ, a missionary to America cleverly disguised as an over the road truck driver. Please feel free to contact Tom @
smilingtom@hughes.net Tom and I have been writing songs together for several years. Just Your Little Boy
Mom, I love you Mom, Some how a card just didn’t seem like enough
So mom, this is just for you with all my love
As I sit here and remember when I was a small lad
You always seem to know if I was being good or bad
And yes, there were times you even had to scold or spank
And now that I have grown into manhood, I would just like to say thanks
And even today though you never criticize
Sometimes when you disapprove I can see it in your eyes
You look into my soul, but you always understand
That I’m Still just your little boy, Who’s grown into a man
The kids I hung around with, sometimes seemed kinda wild
I know now how you worried, when I look at my own child
You never went to sleep at night, till your son was home in bed
Then after you turned out the lights, the same prayer you always said
You would pray that God would watch over us
And forgive us of all our sins
Well Mom, your prayers were answered,
Your son has been born again
You raised me by the golden rule
For that’s the way you lived
You tried so hard to teach me
It’s more blessed when you give
If that’s the way rewards are gained
Then somewhere behind God’s great throne
Theres laid for you a many a precious crowns
All your very own
And Mom, God has prepared for me, next to you
A place to stand
One large enough for a little boy
Who’s grown into a man
Truck drivers Prayer
As I look out the windshield of this big ole truck
Lord, I know my safety dose not depend on luck
Every turn of the wheel is in your control
You take care of my body, spirit, & soul
Lord, you ride with me down every long highway
You are my protection at work or at play
Thank you Lord, for taking my life in your hands
You help me face life's challenges like a man
Lord you give me the strength and courage to tell
Those who reject you are on a run to hell
Lord, you gave me a wife who is pure & true
With out her love, I just would not know what to do
Through the good times & the bad she has stood by my side
I am so much in love with you Lord, and my bride
Lord thank you for my daughters and my sons
For the hugs & kisses from their little one's
For those who worship you and strengthen my faith
My church family, who comes early and stays late,
Thank you for the prayer warriors on bended knees
Those who pray each day, for truck drivers like me
Lord for the lost souls traveling on the highways
Bring them home safely to their children at play
Please open their blind eyes so they can see
The fountain of blood that flows from Calvary
Lord thank you for the Holy Spirit's power
Which gives me strength to face each earthly hour
Thank you for making this day my very best
And at the end of the day for giving me rest
Lord when my earthly travel down here is done
When me & my truck have made our final run
I will go on to your open arms with joyful smiles
Thanking you for riding with me all those miles
Let it be, in the name of Jesus I plea
As I stand in the shadow of Calvary
For thine is the kingdom & the power and the glory forever
Amen

On The Road
There's been so many times when I've been gone
It seems like when you need me, I'm never at home
All I ever wanted was to be a man you could rely on
But it's hard to be that kind of man, when your on the road
Chorus:
Oh! life on the road is a lonely lonely song
No matter how you sing, it'll always make you cry
The love that we have known, is a lonely life alone
Oh it seems like all we're ever doing, is saying goodbye
There;s a price to pay for the choices that we make
Sometimes the cost seems like more than we can take
All I ever wanted was to be therefor you
But when I'm always gone it's so hard for me to do,
On the Road
Oh! life on the road is a lonely lonely song
No matter how you sing, it'll always make you cry
The love that we have known, is a lonely life alone
Oh it seems like all we're ever doing, is saying goodbye
If I could have one wish, it would be to turn back the hands of time
So I could erase the pain I've caused from your mind
If only I could make this dream come true
If I could have it my way, It would be me and you
On The Road
Oh! life on the road is a lonely lonely song
No matter how you sing, it'll always make you cry
The love that we have known, is a lonely life alone
Oh it seems like all we're ever doing, is saying goodbye
Oh it seems like all we're ever doing, is saying goodbye

THIS IS MY STORY, THIS IS MY SONG - Hello my name is Smiling Tom, a disciple of Jesus Christ cleverly disguised as an over-the-road truck driver. For many years the evil in me far outweighed the good. Lustful desires were the master I served. For Christians the soul controls the spirit, the spirit controls the body, and all things are done in moderation. For unsaved church members, the body controls the spirit, the spirit controls the soul, and that person is headed for eternal damnation. Hypocrite is the word for me because I was playing church. My soul was sliding down a slippery slope toward the pit of hell. One day Holy Ghost conviction fell on me like a ton of bricks. I tried to pray to the God in my head, a pitiful pity-party- plea that died right there in the cab of my truck. I could not breathe, my heart was so heavy I thought I was having a heart attack. Desperately I wanted Jesus Christ out of my head and into my heart. The journey from the valley of depression (where sin ruled my life) to the mountain top experience of salvation (where love rules my life) was a trip I could not make alone. All I knew was I did not want to go to hell. I had been listening to a sermon on cassette tape about the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The preacher told me they crucified my Savior naked. For a Jewish man to have himself completely exposed for all the world to see was the ultimate insult. As my truck speed down the Interstate, I stood face to face with Jesus Christ, savior of those who open their heart to Him. My old cold unrepentant heart was broken into a million pieces. I confessed my sins. I begged for His mercy. I heard Jesus say “Come unto Me!” The Holy Spirit opened my spiritual eyes. In my mind I was transported to Golgotha’s bloody hill. I stood at the foot of His cross. I felt some of His pain, some of His suffering, some of His agony, I realized some of His shame, I confessed His name. God’s amazing grace flooded into my body, into my spirit, into my soul. Jesus Christ moved from my head into my heart. I pulled my tractor trailer truck to the side of the Interstate highway. I began to cry. I began to pray. I shouted a little bit temporarily forgetting I was a Baptist.

Psalms Chapter 40 verses 1-8
1. I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. 2. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. 3. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God; many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord. 4. Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies. 5. Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered. 6. Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required. 7. Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me, 8. I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

Gary Rayburn: is the song writing partner of Smiling Tom Caldwell. Brother Gary can be contacted at P. O. Box 578, Carmi, Il 62821. Now here is my story:
“It was august 1995 but I remember it like it was yesterday. My wife Linda was going to this little country church and we had been having trouble with our marriage and so I decided it might help if I was to start going to church with her. Well I had been going a few months and listening to the preacher but it seemed like every week that preacher was standing up there talking about me. So I did what a lot of people do I quit going. Things got worse in our marriage and in my personal life. After one of our arguments I told my wife to just leave I'd had enough. She left alright right and went straight to her pastor and put him onto me. We talked and he read to me from a book on eternal life. The preacher presented Jesus Christ to me but I still had spiritually blind eyes. The next morning I was up early and on the road. As I sat behind the steering wheel of my rig the words of the book replayed through my mind. Without knowing why the tears were streaming down my face and my heart was telling me I needed some relief. I was stubborn and kept saying to myself that I was not going to believe unless God gave me a definite sign. Well, I couldn’t stop the tears so I began to talk with God asking for a sign.
Just as the sun began to lighten up the eastern sky I was driving along on Interstate 55 when I saw it. Out in the middle of a field, off to the side of the highway, I saw a little an old weather beaten, cracked, faded blue sign. The words were still visible and I almost wrecked my truck when I read: CHRIST IS THE ANSWER! I wasn’t sure that was a sign from God. Later in the day a church van passed me on the road and a lady pointed towards heaven as the van passed my truck. I wasn’t sure that was a sign from God. Still later in the day I was rolling back toward home when I came up on this roadside bill board with a giant picture of the face of Jesus on it and the words: THIS ONE’S FOR YOU. I finally yielded my stubborn unbelief and accepted Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior of my life. He saved my soul, He cleaned me up inside and out, He set my feet on the straight and narrow, and He healed my marriage by giving me a new outlook on love. Jesus had lifted all my burdens that day and I was floating on high. The problems of every day life are still there but I don't have to face them alone Jesus is always there with me.
This is my testimony in song "At the Foot of the Tree" My testimony cd is called "This One's For You" if you haven't heard it I would love to send it to you free of charge just contact me and ask for it. Gary Rayburn
At The Foot of The Tree
At the crossroads of life, Lost without hope
18 wheels of lonesome, At the end of the road
In my hand was a tract, The preacher had read
His words still echoing, in back of my head
I felt so ashamed, when I thought of my past
Then I called His name, this chance, would it be my last?
Chorus:
Then I saw Jesus, Hanging on that tree
I lifted up my heart, from down on my knees
Today I met Jesus, at the foot of the cross
Broken hearted and lonesome, so long I had been lost
I left a lifetime of misery, at the foot of the tree
2. Now those 18 wheels are rolling,
down that ole lonesome road
and I share the "Good News" wherever I go
Yes there's been a change, I'm not the man I use to be
and I love to tell everybody, what happen to me
I felt so ashamed, when I thought of my past
so I called His name, this chance, would it be my last?
Then I saw Jesus, hanging on that tree
I lifted up my heart, from down on my knees
Today I met Jesus, at the foot of the cross
Broken hearted and lonesome, so long I had been lost
Then I saw Jesus, hanging on that tree
I lfted up my heart from down on my knees
Today I met Jesus at the foot of the cross
broken hearted and lonesome so long I had been lost
I left a lifetime of misery, at the foot of the tree

Driving This Lonesome Road
I've been driving all night, I got 400 miles to go
The pedal to the metal, Vince Gill on the radio
I just went through Texarkana, Headed down to San Antonio
Well that's the life of a trucker, Driving this lonesome road
Well my backside sore and this ole truck sure is slow
I can hear temptation calling me on the C B radio
She promised me good lovin' or she'll surely get me stoned
Well that's the life of a trucker
Driving this lonesome road
Drive trucker drive, run for your life
She's the devil in disguise and she's gonna ruin your life
Well it Can't be the money that keeps me on the run
It's the white line fever that keeps me on the road
Well I could probablly get lucky down in San Antonio
Find a Lone star honey, That would want to call this rig her own
But you know that kinda lovin' will only wreck your home
Well that's the life of the trucker, driving this lonesome road
Drive trucker drive, run for your life
She's the devil in disguise and she's gonna ruin your life
Well it Can't be the money that keeps me on the run
It's the white line fever that keeps me on the road
Well drive trucker drive, run for your life
She's the devil in disguise and she's gonna ruin your life
Well it Can't be the money that keeps me on the run
It's the white line fever that keeps me on the road
Yeah
That's the life of a trucker drivin' this lonesome road
Driving this white line fever on the road
Driving down the road pulling a heavy load
Yeah
That's the life of a trucker, drivin' this lonesome road
BACK BEFORE CB RADIOS
Back when 700 miles a day, was only a truck drivers dream
The Interstate highway was the future
and truck stops were few and far between
You’d listen to the motor scream
And the gentle hum of 18 wheels
The only thing to look forward to
Was a hot shower and a meal
Driving through the night with no one to talk to
But the man in the stars above your head
An old worn out suitcase was your pillow
A board behind your seat was your bed
You would wake up in the morning
With a creak in your neck
Back before C.B. radio’s
When truck drivers had respect
When truck drivers had respect
They didn’t wear lewd remarks on their shirts
Their hearts were filled with God and country
And their bodies filled with hurt
They would sit around the truck stops
And play that old juke box
Back before C.B. radio’s
When truck drivers had respect
Cold coffee from an old beat up thermos
Sweat rolling down your brow
Another day of chasing that same old lonely road
And before each sunrise, you began a brand new day
With too many miles to go, you slowly made your way
You fight the summer heat and old man winter’s snow
Final destination, God only knows!
When truck drivers had respect
They didn't wear lewd remarks on their shirts
Their hearts were filled with God and country
And their bodies filled with hurt
They would sit around the truck stops
And play that old juke box
Back before C.B. radio’s
When truck drivers had respect
Back when 700 miles a day, was only a truck drivers dream
The Interstate highway was the future
and truck stops were few and far between
Theres No Shame The Cross Won't Bare
[Background music: “Just As I Am”]
Sing: Just as I am without one plea
But that Thy blood was shed for me
And that Thou bids me come to Thee
Oh Lamb of God, I come, I come
Spoken: One day a preacher friend of mine
Was driving down near the country line.
Near the tavern he got an awful shock,
A well known car in the parking lot.
The preacher parked his car, went right in,
Sat down at the bar next to a friend.
While fighting back a bitter tear
The preacher said: “Son, why are you here?
Please come on home to those who care
There is no shame the cross won’t bare!
Sing: Just as you are son, come on home
Your family is waiting for you
Son, faith in Jesus will set you free
There is no shame the cross won't bare
Spoken: The next Sunday morning my preacher friend
Preached his heart, painting a picture of sin
When he finally gave an altar call
The people were kneeling wall to wall.
The prodical son confessed his sins
At that blessed altar of prayer.
The family’s one now and praising God
All the preacher could do was cry and nod.
Friend, have you meet God at an altar of prayer
There is no shame the cross won’t bare
Sing: Just as you are sinner friend
Your blessed Savior waits for you
And from your sin He will set you free
There is no shame the cross won’t bare.
Sing: Just as we are though tossed about
With many a conflict many a doubt
Fighting’s and fears within without
Oh Lamb of God I come I come
Friend, have you meet God at an altar of prayer
There is no shame the cross won’t bare
The Testimony
I was out in Arizona
Feeling the heat from the sand
without regard for God or man
Just me and my eighteen wheeler
two pilgrims on life's lonely highway
and just like Frank, I did it my way
wrapped in confusion - chasing an illusion
face to face with a world hot and dry
Hank on the stereo, so lonesome I could cry
My body weary - my out look dreary
the world outside the comfort of my truck
was one of misfortune and bad luck
I traveled the endless ribbon of highway
thinking surely I understood
everything in this world is no good
With tears in my eyes, I heard my voice cry
if there is a God, Lord I need to know
suddenly a voice on my C.B. radio:
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that
whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life"
The voice of conviction spoke Gods word
that’s when I knew I wanted this for me
but, could I ever have peace & serenity
I cried out through the CB radio mike
My life is a failure washed in sin!
How do I let the love of Jesus In?
"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved"
I cried out through the CB radio mike
I believe, I believe, God's salvation I receive
The very nature of God in me I perceived.
"I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to
salvation for everyone who believes"
I cried out through the CB radio mike
Who are You? What's your 20? please tell me your name.
"I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness: make straight the way of the Lord"
I was out in Arizona
a sinner saved by God's amazing grace
a smile of peace and contentment on my face
Now you have heard my story,
The testimony of a simple man
Listen to Jesus, I pray you understand
"Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to Him and dine with Him, and he with Me."

God Allows U Turns
"All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son,and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him." Matthew 11:27
The big cat engine was whining, I had finished all the gear grinding, the morning sun was blinding, on an cheese egg biscuit I was dining, and my last cup of coffee was eating my stomach lining. In other words it was a routine day. Mixed in amongst all my Johnny Cash sings the blues cassette tapes was a new sermon tape which I had just received through the U.S. mail. I placed the new tape into the cassette player and turned up the volume so I could hear it over the road noises. Two facts: One * I was an unsaved church member on a down hill run with no brakes ready to bust hell wide open. Two " God allows U turns." Brother Jonah, who rode for three days in the belly of the great fish, and I have one thing in common we were running away from God. You can't hide from God, my friend, because there is no place He hasn't been. The great fish made a U turn and Brother Jonah headed back toward Nineveh. Brother Paul riding on the superhighway between Jerusalem and Damascus when blinded by a great light and met Jesus Christ head on made a U turn. There are many impressive U turns listed in the Bible and the history of the church. The evangelist preaching on the cassette tape made the statement that Jesus was crucified naked and this was a great insult for a Jewish man to be seen naked in public. There was no blinding light to knock me off my donkey. There were no trumpets blasting, no great fish to throw me up on the beach, no outward sign of any change in me. But, inside of me the Holy Spirit opened my spiritual eyes and I stood at the foot of the cross of Jesus Christ and asked Him to forgive me of my sins. The tears flowed from my eyes, the praises rolled from my lips, so much emotion poured out of me that I had to pull my truck over to the side of the Interstate and had me a holly fit. If you are on a down hill slide toward the pits of hell you too can make a U turn.
God’s Plan of Salvation:
It is a fact that God loves you. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
It is a fact that you are a sinner. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Romans 3:23
It is a fact that you are now dead in sin. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23
It is a fact that Christ died for you. “For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:6 – 8
It is a fact that you can be saved by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. “And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” Acts 16:30, 31
It is a fact that you can be saved and know it. “He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar;…..And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” 1st John 5: 10 – 13
It is a fact that you are now a child of God and you are to obey Him. “Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.” Acts 5:29
If you would like to make that U-Turn you could pray a simple prayer like this one here:
“Heavenly Father, I invite Jesus Christ into my life as my Lord and as my Savior. I believe Jesus died for my sins. His blood was shed so that I could be forgiven and I believe that he has been raised from the dead. I surrender my life to you Jesus and I accept You as my Lord from this moment forward. I receive the forgiveness of sins through your shed blood Jesus. Take out my old heart, Lord, and give me a new heart, a new spirit, a new life and I will follow you, with your help, by your grace, all the days of my life. In Jesus’ Name.”
Praise the Lord!! you have just confirmed your eternal destination, and your name has been recorded into the Lamb's Book of Life. We are so very honored to be able to stand with you through this powerful and life changing event. We are confident that together with the Lord your former life and lifestyle will be gone and many wonderful and exciting opportunities will be before you.
